Sad News

Sad news. After battling breast cancer for a number of years our dear friend and adopted by love Aunt, Alice Sherman left this world for a better one this evening at about 6:30pm. I know it will be hard for her sweetheart, Leigh after being together more than 55 years. We will miss her, but know she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All our best wishes to all the Sherman Families. We LOVE YOU. DelmaRae

Meeting New Friends

It has been a busy day. The wind has really been blowing, but I have been able to get somethings done in the house and some in the garage. I was taking care of something outside when a mother and son walked up to me looking for the Menke's. I told them that they had found us. The introduced themselves as being friends with my daughter Laurann Pluta that is married and lives in Logan UT. They are from Sandy UT visiting Nauvoo. It was nice to meet some of her friends. They loved their visit to Nauvoo and showed me on their list of all the places they had visited. They have been busy. They were disappointed that they couldn't go the Nauvoo Temple as it was closed for it's semi-annual deep cleaning and repairs. I advised them that if they wanted to help clean this evening that they might be able to go. I made a phone call and Tom Adams was able to have the come to do a special assignment. They were thrilled to be able to do this and were able to go places they would not have on a regular day. I had the opportunity of watching their 7 month old son while they did this. It is amazing how just stopping bye to say hello can touch so many lives. Our former guest that served a mission in this area 7 years ago arrived to stay a couple of nights and it was like they had been here just last week. It is amazing how friendships continue on and on.

Just Starting Session 2010

Wow! Another summer season is just around the corner. No more snow (I sure hope not!) since it is almost the 1st of May. We have had nicer days and April showers. Thank goodness not like last year. I have been doing spring cleaning and chasing away a few cobwebs from the high corners. It is amazing how things collect if you are not right on it. The lawn has been mowed yesterday, thanks to my dear Dad. Bill Snyder has been trying to get our mower working for another season and we actually had it working today. I need to replace one of the flower boxes on the east side of the house that had some rot. The heavy rain last week did it in and it is now on the ground. If we can keep from raining on the weekend we should have it fixed and very possibly planted. We are looking forward to the upcoming season of lots of activities in lovely Historic Nauvoo. We look forward to meeting new friends and renewing old ones. Our doors are open and welcome to all.
